Come join a bunch of us on Facebook which is a lot safer that Twitter. I've been on it almost from the beginning of time. From there we can work on a film board of our own. Aside from that I would sincerely like to keep in touch with the Islanders.

IMDb may sink like the Orca without its message board interactions and no way I am moving my carcass to Rotten Tomatoes (not even sure it has a message board facility).

You're not even a good troll; too generic and colourless. You have a half dozen "go to" insults which usually involve a family member, suicide, or dying in some manner. You will not be missed on these boards because you are not memorable. Sorry man.

Same here Corky! This is the only board I truly enjoy on IMDb and I will miss being able to discuss various flicks and reading other peoples' take on things. I suspect the user reviews will remain but without the interaction life won't be the same! This particular board is a great escape when I'm in search of some respite from reality. I think without the discussion boards this site will capsize  People will be looking for alternate movie-related websites now or someone will establish something not quite so vast.

It is enormous given the sheer amount of movies but I used to flit between about a dozen or so regularly. Now I'll just have to switch off and do something marginally more productive like knit a scarf and some booties for the cat lol 

I always appreciated the Jaws messageboard too. For one thing, it had a consistently lower troll to legitimate poster ratio than most other active boards on IMDB.

This much is true. There are some really awful daily conflicts on many active boards and the more diplomatic a poster is, some see this as a weakness and go for the jugular. I have won a few trolls around but some aren't interested in being diplomatic - I sometimes think certain posters have more than one account and use one for rational discussion and one or more for shouting the odds without the two or more accounts being seen to be related. That way they tell it how they really think elements really are without getting a bad rep on their nicer account!

Agreed that the comparatively minor troll factor has been a very attractive element on here.

Priestess, I'll miss you and your fun, genteel posts. Same goes for a lot of others, BenG's Boat, Phydeaux, and a few other great posters, sorry I can't recall all of them at the moment.

I really do not know how I will cope with the upcoming loss of the message boards - it already feels like an amputation...
