Loved this movie, HATED "Secretary"!
So many fans of this movie say if you like this, you'll like "Secretary" but that was not true for me!
I found "O" elegant, sensual, otherworldly, a great examination of sex mixed with unconditional love, and when sex is the expression of unconditional love, how that played out- so tastefully. It felt somehow sleek and clean...and warm.
By contrast, "Secretary" feels cold, disturbing on a deep level that goes far beyond sex... It feels dirty, gross, like the leads need a bath! It has no elegance, no otherworldliness, and it was steeped in an air of immaturity!
"O" turns me on, while "Secretary" turns me off!
Fun fact, rock star Joan Jett named "Story of O" as one of her favorite movies years ago. We have pretty similar taste in film, so I'd like to think that in liking this one, she'd be as repulsed by the other as I am!
Don't believe it- just because you like this doesn't mean you'll like "Secretary"- they are essentially nothing alike where it counts.
