Adrienne Shelly as Tanya Quinn in 'Homicide'.

In 1994 the late and much lamented Adrienne Shelly played the role of Tanya Quinn in the 'Homicide' episode entitled 'A Many Splendored Thing'. Tanya is a Submissive woman and leading figure in the Baltimore BDSM community who helps the police track down the killer of one of her own. She encounters much hostility and prejudice from the detectives, especially from lead investigator Tim Bayliss, but eventually manages to earn their respect and acceptance.

I sincerely believe that this episode is one of the fairest and most positive representations of the BDSM community in the media and also one of the best examples of US television of the 1990s. I have left a post on the Adrienne Shelly message board entitled 'Tanya Quinn in Homicide: Life On The Street' and I would be VERY grateful if anyone from the BDSM community - in particular female Subs - would read it and post their thoughts. I would like to hear all shades of opinion, whatever they may be.
