The most haunting and horrible part for me.....
was when they broke that woman's arm with the butt of the gun. I couldn't imagine being in a place like that and having a broken arm. I doubt they even gave her pain killers, did they??

shareIve seen this movie! OMGawd I distinctly remember seeing a movie in 6th grade where a woman gets some part of her arm broken by the butt of a gun.

It was her hand that was crushed actually. Yeah, talk about a cringe worthy moment.
Don't eva let nobody tell you you ain't strong enough
The first chair violinist had both of her hands crushed, too. Sweet thing to do.
shareFor me it was Betsie's death! What a faithful woman she was...she even prayed for the German people while at Ravensbruck!
shareAlthough that scene bothered me too, I was more haunted and disturbed by the scene where the mentally challenged girl is beaten (probably to death) for missing roll call. Hearing the whip cracking and her screams without seeing it made it even more horrifying.

What amazing luck! Many years ago I watched a movie with the very scene you described, but I have never known its name! It was such an awful scene, I never forgot it. Yet the movie itself sounds like a celebration of the human spirit, so I look forward to re watching it. Thanks for this post!
