It was Andy Griffith's character talking about the wonders of independent wealth. He was talking about a fellow cowboy actor who had struck it rich by being tight with his money and making a shrewd investment (he'd invested in a weasel ranch in Montana that paid off big when weasel pelts hit a high in the market). This lead Griffith to wax eleoquent about having lots of money and indpendent wealth, and he put it sort of like this (I'm paraphrasing):
A salesman walks up to you and says, "What'll it be?" and you say, I'll take the Taj Majal." The salesman says, sorry, it's not for sale. So you say, well, then I'll take the whole damned country! Wrap the whole thing up!" The salesman now agreeably says "Yes, SIR!!"... That's the power of independent wealth.
