This film came out in 1975, years before Raiders of the Lost Ark...yet early in the film Jeff Bridges is wearing fedora and fantasizing about cracking a whip in one of his pulp western stories. The film takes place in 1933. Did Speilberg and Lucas get the idea for Indiana Jones from this samll clip? Take a look and consider this. HOTW is still charming and Jeff Bridges shines.
shareI would venture a guess that both "Hearts..." and the Indiana Jones flicks owe something to the predecessors they have in common, such as the heroes from the old pulp novels and movie serials.
shareI rather imagine that if you checked out the films or Alfred LaRue, aka Lash LaRue, and Roland Charles Meyers, aka Whip Wilson, you would discover that those two B-western stars had more influence on the appearance of Lewis Tater and Indiana Jones than either character had upon the other.
