My thought's about Grey Gardens and the Edies....

I hope I don't offend anybody or say anything wrong but these are my feelings after I watched the original movie and then the 2007 one.

I think big Edie and Phelan were very controlling of her and wanted her to marry and not do what she wanted to do with her life. Big Edie seemed like a very proud woman and wouldn't give up the one thing that she owned which was the Grey Garden's house and she didn't want help with anything because she would portray that she was weak. Big Edie seemed very controlling and she seemed to say things to little Edie so that she felt guilty and felt like she needed her mother more than she actually did. I don't understand why big Edie says good things about little Edie and then she totally puts her down the next moment. She also seems like she had such a good life and nothing bad has happened to her and she had a good life. I wish big Edie gave her support so that she could of tried out for the things that she wanted to do and maybe succeed like she thinks she would have.

People say that they are both eccentric but I think Little Edie likes to remember the past to help her deal with the present and keep her from being bored and dealing with her mother.
