Battle Royale and Hunger Games anyone?

Anyone thinks this movie influenced the Japanese Sci-fi cult classic Battle Royale and the recent blockbuster HG?

No more than Roman gladiatorial games did, historically. This was hardly a new idea.

Check out the 1932 film The Most Dangerous Game. It is the cinematic grandaddy of the "humans killing each other for sport" genre. Of course it too was based on a book and as the previous poster mentioned the gladiators were very similar a couple thousand years ago.
