This is one of the most underrated films ever in the history of cinema! If the crew had a bigger budget and the story was more stretched out I feel it would rival Goodfellas. Its much more gritty and realistic than The Godfather and I feel that you get much more of an insight into the mafia here than most other gangster movies. Plus the acting is superb with Joe Pesci, Frank Vincent and Joe Contese.
sharePlease! Interesting film because of Pesci and Frank Vincent before they were famous but BRILLIANT? Gimme a break. The script was everywhere and the holes in the plot were unbearable.
Amongst other things though it was a great time capsule with the loud '70's clothes and big cars. I did note the World Trade Center in some shots and that gave me pause.
Interesting that director and producer De Vito did no other films before or after this one. Musta got wacked by the critics.
