I was watching "The Barber Shop", Ice Cubes movie and sequel....shot in Chicago. I actually recognized an older woman, with a nice sized role in the movie......as one of the high school girls (her characters name is Johnnie Mae I think) in Cooley High". She was making out with Cochise in the doorway of her building and also at the belly rub party. I assume she was/ is a local in Chicago and every 30 years or so a Black movie comes to Chicago....she gets a role. Work is work so good for her.

The actress who played Johnny Mae in Cooley High is Jackie Taylor who founded and is Artistic Director of the hugely popular Black Ensemble Theatre in Chicago. She has written, produced and directed over 100 productions, including "The Jackie Wilson Story", "The Other Cinderella", "At Last" (The Etta James Story), and the theatre's present production is a focus on the life of the legendary jazz diva Nina Simone. I was told that an upcoming production will be "The Dionne Warwicke Story".

So, as you can see, whether another movie of any kind is ever filmed in Chicago, Jackie Taylor is doing just fine.

You go girl!!!
