Joan Collins looked really hot

In the episode Mission of the Darians.

Excellent legs. Gorgeous face.

She never looked better.

I think she even looked better than in 'City on the Edge of Forever'

Unfortunately, she couldn't dress like that in the 1930s.

reply

 Yes, Fletch, but with the Guardian Of Forever, almost anything is possible.

Did you know Barbara Bain bitched about Joan's skirt being that short? She insisted it be longer, but her request was refused. Instead, they came up with a leg-exposing costume for Barbara, which was why Helena was not wearing her Alpha uniform after being captured. The show's crew had nicknamed her "Barbara Pain" due to her frequent "requests".

Well, she'd spent several seasons as Cinnamon on "Mission Impossible" where she usually didn't have much female competition of Ms. Collins' caliber. I usually don't gripe about an actor's work because I despise it when someone with no show business experience at all claims a well established actor "can't act". However, Ms. Bain's acting in a lot of 1999 just wasn't too good. Landau and Morse were a little better, but not by much.

I never had any complaints about the acting on the show. Season two went overboard with the Alphans' carefree attitudes, but that of course was the writing.

reply

Hilarious comment in one of the DVD documentaries when one of the writers explains that Joan Collins' character Kara was an old alien who transplants body parts to keep herself looking young for centuries and then suggested that Collins does the same thing in real life.

I howled with laughter.

reply

I believe that was said by the great Johnny Byrne, whose writing efforts were unfortunately minimal on season two.
I guess Joan took the example of the role she played.
