'Is this a piece of your brain?'

Classic episode.

I loved it when he pretended to speak. Mrs Richards turned her hearing aid up to full volume and then he shouted as loudly as possible!

Great scene in an incredible episode.

What really 'makes' that scene for me is that, for ONCE, Sybil actually kind of 'plays along' with Basil there and keeps her voice silent too. Brilliant.

Sybil doesn't play along.

The reason why she keeps her voice silent, is that she is embarrassed, and wants to command Basil to stop, without the old hag hearing what she's saying and doing (keeping up false appearances is her (and most women's) forté).

She doesn't want to show her true, harpy personality to guests. Hence, she tries to become 'the dragon' silently.

It's like in church, when you want to tell your brother to stop teasing you, you don't scream it out loud, lest the whole church folk would turn their attention to you, and you'd be even more embarrassed - you want to do it quietly, without arousing attention.

That's what Sybil is doing, she's definitely NOT playing along.

Why would she?

And Cleese said that he wanted to cut the line but Andrew Sachs insisted he keep it in. (It's also the line that makes me laugh the most).
