The Stairs

Always thought it was odd that when they went upstairs, they came to short banister that forced them to take a right up a few more stairs, then left, and back down a few more, only to bring them to the same place that the banister was keeping them from.

Yes. And hilarious it is, isn't it? My suggestion is they did it for the lulz.

I always wondered if it was because of the position of the kitchen. I worked for many years at Barking College, in one corridor there was a section that went up a few stairs and then immediately down again. This was because the corridor went over the top of a boiler room.

skip to 0:40 and watch through to the next scene - you'll notice that stair quirk would be happening right over the first rise of stairs coming up from the foyer. if it were on the other side of the upstairs' landing, i'd assume there was something under it, as well, but there isn't. it's just a silly fawlt ;)

yea, it adds to just the general awful service of the hotel - you finally make it through the gauntlet of Sybil, Basil, and Manuel, and then you have superfluous steps to deal with.

Have you noticed that the set was subsequently recycled in Father Ted, with the removal of a few doors-just watch the episode Kicking Bishop Brennan up the Arse... It's too similar to be just a coincidence...

A lot of sets on TV that show an upstairs area, show stairs leading up and then coming down again. It's because it's too much money to have the entire set raised to accomodate the stairs coming up.
