Fawlty Play
We've just been to see the John Cleese approved stage production of FT in Sydney. 3 classic episodes (Hotel Inspectors/Communication problems/The Germans,) merged into one with linking bits.
Not bad, but, obviously not as good as the originals. Basil's shoes are too big to fill unfortunately, but the "Sybil" "Polly" "Manuel" characters pull it off, the Major is not too bad either.
However the show is stolen by the "Mrs Richards", who, though no Joan Sanderson, is very much the real thing.
The cut the Major's "wogs" speech, unfortunately only to be expected in these PC days.
As a live play it works well, and is worth seeing.
