BLUCHER!
(horses neigh)
Always found that hilarious!
A woman so terrifying that the mere mention of her name strikes terror in the hearts of animals.
Supposedly, blucher means glue in German - a trip to the glue factory being the last trip an old horse makes..
Oh no, I never knew that. No wonder they screamed each time her name was mentioned!
shareI just Googled it, and apparently the "glue" definition is a fan theory that holds no water. Blucher is NOT a German word for glue, it's just a typical German surname. Oops..
So, the gag is simply that this woman is so terrifying that the mere mention of her name strikes fear in the horses, no matter how softly her name is said. Plus, don't you love the look of bitter disgust on Leachman's (Blucher) face when the horses whinny in terror when they hear her name?
Oh OK, thanks for the update. Yes, she's very good in it!
The whole cast was, IMO, perfect in each and every role.
