It's been about 5 years for me...I'd love to see it again. Hopefully the next time it comes on, someone will post on here and let us know! They don't make movies like this anymore.
I remember seeeing this movie in 1974 at the Garland Theater in Spokane, WA. I was 11 years old. I remember my 2nd or 3rd grade teacher read the book to us in class. My how time has flown by.

Just saw it yesterday on "Encore" (May 7, Vancouver BC). I LOVED IT! Never saw it before, but had heard of it. I'm pretty sure it was required reading in some grades back when I was in school in the 70's, but I guess I wasn't in those classes!

It showed today on a cable channel called "This". I happened to be home and although it messed up my day's plans, I ended up watching all of it. Really took me back 30 years to when I saw it in a converted opera house in a small Ky town.

It is very, very well closed captioned.
The closed captioning helps with the dialects and accents.
Earl Hamner Jr wrote the movie screenplay based on the eponymous (same named) book.
