Deleted scenes you wish had been kept in?

On the Blu-ray disc of this film all the deleted scenes are available to watch. There's some that I think should have been kept in the film because they give a bit more depth to the characters.

1-Harlee arriving at the building going up the foyer escalator and meeting Lisolette and giving her the flowers he's carrying. Their dialogue shows us that these two know each other and live in the building. I always wondered if they knew each other before the party.

2- Scene between Jim Duncan and his daughter Patty in the promenade when the guests are trapped. She thanks him for her happy childhood, it's a touching little scene and Holden is quite good in it.

3- Conversation in the foyer by the scenic elevator between Jim Duncan and Susan. This directly follows the scene where Jim excuses himself from talking to Bigelow to talk to Susan but we never hear the conversation. They talk about Doug's future.

Any you wish had been kept in?

Go to bed Frank or this is going to get ugly .

Yes the one where O'halleron calls his wife before he goes to blow up the tanks. It showed that he was nervous and may never see his family again

This scene isn't on ay of the discs I've seen. What happens in this scene?

reply

His wife was mildly crying on the other end and reminiscing about a nice memory they shared years earlier and then Chief telling her to tell the kids he loves them and the reason why he's hard on them is to prepare them for life in the real world after school. It sounded from the conversation he challenges his high school son to do better. Touching scene that I'm surprised they cut. But I understand why, I guess they already showed the Chiefs vulnerability when he was asked to blow the tanks.

I've never even heard of this scene! Is this on the blu ray? I only have the DVD and this isn't included on the deleted scenes and I've never even seen anything about it on any websites I used to frequent about the film.

I have the newest Bluray on its on it, and also a few more McQueen scenes that shouldn't have been cut. It's an Easter Egg hidden

1 - More of Doug and Susan when they are together before the phone call comes informing him about the first electrical burnout -- they are a major couple, and we need to see more of them, and particularly his plans for more natural-looking housing developments, so we understand why her taking the editor's job is such a big issue.

2 - The whole scene with Dan and Lorrie and the rest of the public relations staff planning the party. When Lorrie corrects a major social faux pas that he has made in the seating arrangements, it shows what a conscientious and hardworking secretary she is,
and better explains his later remark, "If I ever start taking you for granted, do something about it." And that sweet smile she sneaks after he dispatches the fellow to Phoenix to get the rare wine is both heartwarming and haunting. You get a much better sense of them as co-workers who got to know each other very well on the job and fell genuinely in love.

I love the couple of extra seconds you get of Fred Astaire arriving at Jennifer Jones apartment to take her to the party, any extra's with Jennifer Jones in it are worth it.

One of the scenes mentioned by the OP. When Astaire visits Jennifer Jones and it's explained that they happen to be neighbors.

And after having cut the ribbon, William Holden leads the mayor and his wife through the lobby to the scenic elevator. Duncan points out that the two other scenic elevators aren't operating yet.

And finally, when Astaire reunites with his son from that TV series It Takes a Thief (Robert Wagner) to rob the apartment of Jennifer Jones, only to be thwarted by the Man from U.N.C.L.E (Robert Vaughn), who gets kicked off to his death anyway by Dr. Kildare (Richard Chamberlain).
