Question about the eye scene

I have not seen this movie yet, yet have been reccomended it. I wanted to know (since I can have a weak stomach) do they actually SHOW the scene when her eye is gouged out? If so, I might not be able to watch that scene. XD

SPOILER regarding question

They show a knife going into an eyeball. There is plenty of warning as the knife goes very slowly toward the victim. When you see the knife coming toward the camera, close your eyes for 8 seconds.

No gouging, but it certainly wasn't pretty. The unrated DVD has an alternate footage part of it as well. Done for shock value, the film is interesting enough so that they didn't really need to do it, and since you don't plan on watching that scene, I can tell you that it was done with no emotion from the victim. Almost like they were doing it to a corpse, as is alleged.

If you want to see the film without the notoriuos eye gouging, there is a great dvd available from Synapse, called 'Vengeance Edition'. This version has the eye scene censored out, along with some very ugly hard core porn inserts removed as well. If you are interested in seeing a good film, see this version. it concentrates on the film itself, and it's story, rather than on some cheap gross-out effects that many believe lower the quality of an otherwise great cult film.

You should also know that it is an actual human eye being punctured, they used a cadaver wearing eye liner for the extreme close up. It is very gross and disturbing.

Really? Wow, the result was fantastic. Better than Fulci's Zombie, I'd say.

i gotta say, that eye stabbing seen was one of the more *beep* up ones i've seen. had to rewind it a few times i was so disturbed.

I still think Zombie has the worst slow moving eye gouge...with the splintered wood from the broken closet door, jaggedly being pressed into her eye the whole time screaming like a banshee in pain...yeah needless to say when I saw this film and its scene about a year later, it was the moment I realized I was desensitized.
