**AVOID - Synapse Vengence Edition - AVOID! ***

Just purchased the Vengence Editon from Synapse and am majorly dissapointed. Misleadingly, when comparing runtimes (104 minutes) with that of the seemingly uncut versions mentioned on the IMDB page I was under the impression I was getting the uncut version. WRONG! I then learnt that the hardcore sex scenes were cut which I thought OK, no big deal, I'm not buying the film to have a wank over but to learn that the they cut the scalpel in the eye scene was the last straw. I'm absoluting raging about this, I mean why? What was the point in cutting that scene? For a modern day release from an old cult film that was destroyed by the censors in its day? Why?! The booklet insert that came from the DVD was even banging on about how the censors slammed the film and to 'sit back an enjoy this cult film for how it was intended to be' yet they cut the eye scene! Absolutely effing ridiculous! I feel so cheated! Robbed! Does anyone think it would be worth sending and email and voicing my opinion to Synapse? Maybe I'd feel better after a refund or an reasonable explantaion. Avoid this version at all costs!

That aside I was really disappointed with the film in general. The violence was tame and the effects were really poor. The slow motion scenes didn't seem right either - they were too slow really. Must have been the hardcore sex scenes and the scapel in the eye that gave this film its cult status because, believe me without them this film is nothing. Although I do admit my impression may have been influenced by my anger and disappointment of obtaining the cut version.

The only plus was that Frigga was beautiful to look at naked.
