MISSING SONG

The song "Make A Resolution" has been missing from every viewing I have seen for several years. This song was featured between the time frame of Jimmy, Jagger and Keyes leaving in Keyes' Lincoln Continental and reaching the car wash. I know the song was there, having seen the film during it's theatrical release. But for the past several years, the song has been missing from television broadcasts, be it regular TV or cable satellite. Does anyone know what happened here?

Maybe that scene was cut after release. The original running time of the movie was 93 minutes but most versions now run 89 minutes. Hopefully the DVD out in January 2010 will be the complete version.

Unfortunately, the DVD has the abrupt cut from leaving in the Lincoln to fighting in the car wash. Normally, I would assume it is a music rights problem, but they cleared all of the other Impressions songs from the same writers and (presumably) publishers, so it seems unlikely. Running time is 89 minutes on the DVD.

I'm still waiting for my DVD to come in at my local store, but is this print the one with biker girls nudity and ALL the swearing intact?

Does it have the extended boat scene that I've heard about before?

reply

It has plenty of nudity and swearing. I am not sure about the extended boat scene. I found it at my local Target store mixed in with other titles in the "4 Film Favorites" series from Warner Bros.

The new DVD release does NOT have the song, as the scene of the guys driving to the carwash has been edited out, along with at least one other scene. We do, however, get the topless scenes of the three motorcycle women. The version that was originally on VHS was rated PG, and was likely mastered from a print for television use (it also ran 97 minutes). The version that just came out is 90 minutes, and is rated R.

DON'T KNOW WHY THEY SHORTEN THAT SCENE BUT,THE VHS VIDEO HAS IT IN THERE.....THEY ALSO CUT SHORT FRED WILLIAMSON SCENE WHEN HE WAS INTRODUCED AND DROVE THE BOAT WITH THE FEMALE.
BUT AS I SAID,IT'S ALL IN THE VHS VIDEO OF THE MOVIE!

reply

Yeah, as far as I know the PG VHS release was the version for TV, with added scenes to fill time etc.

It would have been cool to put both versions together on the DVD, R rating in the end of course to make it complete with the biker girls and all swearing, but there's a lot of TV versions out there with scenes never making it on DVD, unless they put them in the 'deleted scenes' section.

That is the song is in the closing credits, so I don't see how it could have been a clearance issue. It's good they finally released it in widescreen, but otherwise I'm disappointed. There are no extras and the sound mix is Dolby Digital 1.0 Mono on all 4 films.

I just bought the DVD a while ago & just looked at the film. Yes I did see the scene was cut after Kelly dropped the cops. They were driving down I assume the Henry Hudson Pkwy or the West Side Hwy. Fortunately I have a copy of the movie when they used to show the movie on Cinemax back in the early 90's with the complete scenes. You kinda feel ripped-off when the cut a scene out. I was thinking also was it because of copyrights with the song as well? It's there at the end. Maybe for time contraints on the DVD, who knows?
