Certainly one of my all time favourites

I'm so glad I saw this movie!

It has fabulous casting, a hillarious script and so much substance. There's so much to look at...from the manservant running into a tree to inconspicuous small peaople muttering everywhere.

Make sure you see THE FOUR MUSKETEERS too...it's also good, and finishes off the story (although in my opinion, it's not nearly as good as this one). THE THREE MUSKETEERS is one of my favorite films; I've seen it about five times now, and I find it actually gets better the more I watch it!

This movie has been on my favorite movies list for a long time. Other movies come and go, but The Three Musketeers still remains. For the feel of the historical period, the exciting story, and the fantastic performances, The Three Musketeers is one great movie.

It's difficult to choose the best performance:

I love D'Artagnan! Michael York is the young man of the Dumas book.

Raquel Welch surprised me with her comedic talent, as a beautiful, appealing, and funny Constance.

Faye Dunaway was chillingly evil as Milady, just as she was in the book.

And there were many minor characters that were wonderful, even those with only a passing scene, added great things to this movie.

My favorite may be Charlton Heston as Richelieu. His performance gives true definition to the word "subtle". As a counterpoint to the more physically agressive Christopher Lee's Rochefort, Richelieu adds an oppressive menace to the opposition, that is always delivered with a velvet glove.
