Is it out on blu-ray, and if so, then how is the image quality?

Yes, as well as the sequel. And looks pretty good for its age. It's also streaming on Amazon Prime in HD. I bought the overseas combo that has both movies from one of the European Amazon websites, it was region free. Might be available in the U.S. by now. www.blu-ray.com has info on availability in all markets.
