What was the significance of the old drunk man at the cemetery
I mean, his rambling on spooked Franklin a little but what did he mean by what he was saying "You laugh at an old man" and "I see things..." Did all of this have any significance?

sharePersonally I think he was just in there for effect, to add to the creepiness of the film. Other than that, he didn't serve any purpose.
shareNothing more than to build a sense of dread, a foreboding atmosphere, part of a method of instilling increasing anxiety over what will come next, etc. Before his scene we hear the radio broadcast informing that the local cemetery has been vandalized. Then comes an old drunk stating that he's seen things . . .
In other words, to get everyone inching toward the edge of their seats.
It meant nothing and just one of the reasons for this movies failure. The other issues are no blood and gore
