Was The Ending (Spoilers) A Major Letdown For Anyone Else?
I love mysteries. And I own the "Poroit Trilogy" (can't spell that name sorry) on Swedish Blu Ray.
Death on the Nile is one of my fav movies, of any genre. It flows beautifully, and Ustinov, unlike Finney who has to really try, is a perfect, mellow, brilliant fit.
But the ending. Which of course connects to the middle leading-up.
It's as if we're watching a murder mystery about Who Killed Hitler? Who Killed Charlie Manson? Who killed... you get the idea.
Having a mystery wherein everyone is the butler, per se, is a letdown to me. Also, to get to his conclusion, Finney's pontificating Frenchman goes on way, way, way too long.
Anyhow, with a director like SL behind the lens I expected more. The great cast too. I loved the atmosphere, the setting, and half the movie was good.
The finale tho was one of the biggest Mystery Genre cop-outs I've ever seen. Oh well, the Blu Ray cover is amazing. As is the transfer.
