he was,he was ideal for this weasel-ly take on the Texas cowboy wannebe but all the main characters were cast virtually perfectly, tbh.
I tend to agree that you wanted him to get killed since this annoying little SOB was the one who put Majestyk on the collision course with the more serious bad-asses...he tries to strong-arm Majestyk, pulls a shot-gun on him when he realises he is way out of his league, and to top it off, starts Majestyks real problems by then
--running and finking to the cops, when he himself is involved in an extortion racket
-running to be a puppydog to the more serious hoods
I've theorized that the guy who played "Ray the Cowboy ' in the original "Dallas" tv show, for example, might have been an interesting alternative allowing the character to be played a little tougher and less one dimensional.
of course, some such people are actually pretty one-dimensional people irl .
