How can someone not laugh?

I don't mean to be an arrogant Monty Python fan, but I'm at a loss when I watch this film with others, and I laugh, and the others don't laugh. I mean, I've seen it dozens of times and still laugh. They never saw it, and they sit there, without laughing.

And I can't for the life of me figure out how they do it. This is simply a sprawling all out laugh fest that never stops. If a person can't laugh at this, how can he or she laugh at anything?

I just can't fathom it. I'm under the impression that these people just hold it in, that they're practicing to be poker players, like not laughing at something hysterical makes a difference, I don't know.

I have no idea, but it happens. I loaned my copy out to two people at work who had never seen it... one with a GREAT sense of humor. Neither one could get through it. Sigh.

I generally don't laugh out loud much at stuff. it takes A LOT to make me genuinely LOL. a lot of the times I'll think in my head "oh that's funny" or "that's clever" but not have any visceral reaction to it. Why? Too much effort for such little payoff maybe...I know not. it's possible these people are the same way?

anyway I thought the show was MUCH funnier than the movie. however I usually think television is a better platform for comedy than movies. I do like how much Holy Grail plays with the medium though (such as the first 10 or so minutes).

and also considering how much the intentionally camp/kitschy style of humour has been used these days (Garth Marenghi being a big example of this), perhaps it just isn't as fresh as might have been back when it was released.

Some people, like my mother (not dissing her, just stating a fact), don't like stupid humor in any, way, shape or form. As funny as MP&THG is, you would have to be an idiot not to call it stupid. It is just stupid in a smart way. But back to what I was saying, some people just don't like stupid humor & that is all there is too it. IT doesn't matter how outrageous, random, or clever the joke is; if it is stupid, there won't be a positive reaction.

I don't have the answer. I want to say that comedy is a personal thing, but I'm not sure if this is exactly true. There's probably an element of culture there, but being able to speak English means you're mostly there anyway.

My friends would probably wonder why I don't think The Big Bang Theory is funny if I didn't remain silent when the topic arises.

I usually don't laugh out loud at things, even if I do find them funny, but by the end of every viewing of this movie i 'm struggling to breathe

i think i'm from the third kind of people, not a shemale or something, but i found very few spots in the movie hilarious i laugh out loud but for a long time between i couldn't laugh at all, i was bored to death, in the end i couldn't go through the movie, tried several times, same with life of brian, on the other hand and now for something completely different is one of my favorites.

IDK. I can't picture anybody not laughing at this.

I didn't laugh when I watched this. Not even once. Lots of movies have made me laugh. This one didn't.
