In the originall novel,he is stated as 'Spanish Catalan' and 'Cuban'. But is he British in the film version (with a Spanish surname)?

Cuban and British in the movie, probably raised just by his mother hence the surname

I'm pretty sure it was mentioned he grew up in Brazil.

I think in the film he was supposed to have a Cuban father and possibly a British mother, although in his conversation with Bond on the island he used the term, "You British" to him.🐭
