Whenever I think of favourite Bond films prior to Daniel Craig's Casino Royal, The Man With The Golden Gun always crosses my mind first.

All the Connery films are at the bottom for me along with Tim Dalton's Living Daylight's. I swapped Rain Man for that one.

Before Craig, it was Moore who was my favourite Bond, mainly because of the over-done humour, especially in Octopussy ... and out of his films, my cherry picked films in order are The Man With The Golden Gun, Live And Let Die, The Spy Who Loved Me and For Your Eyes Only.

After Moore it was Pierce Brosnon, but not even Goldeneye was as enjoyable as my favourite Moore films.

Hands down Daniel Craig is the best Bond so far and Casino Royale was a masterpiece, albeit a Bourne Identity clone, and Skyfall was enjoyable too. Quantum Of Solace I have to see as part two of Casino Royale, it was just weird and an anti-climax after Casino Royale.

Roger Moore is my favourite, I like all his film except for View to a Kill which I didn't find very appealing. Daniel Craig I don't care for at all, I find his films very gloomy. Definitely bottom of the heap for me.

I get why you don't like the Daniel Craig films. The reason you don't like them is the reason I do like them.

I read the books in the 1980's and the books are nothing like the films except From Russia With Love, Dr No and Goldfinger.

In the books Bond had no humour. He was more like a terminator with one track mind, accomplish the mission. He is very clever and resourceful, he is also extremely tough. Memorable parts are like the crawling through the shaft in Dr No and his fight with Grant in Russia With Love.

The main thing about the book Bond is that he was cruel, very cold and and callous. What you would call a cold vicious killer with a hard heart. Bond in the books would not hesitate punching a woman around a room and breaking her arm to get information. It is a big contrast to the Roger Moore portrayal.

I like Daniel Craig because he nails the persona of the Bond in the books, it is especially noticeable in Casino Royale. The books don't have the gadgets either, so the Daniel Craig films are like this too, though they have started introducing gadgets again in Skyfall unfortunately.
