The Biggest Gross in One Theatre

Mame made and still holds the record for the biggest gross at a single theatre worldwide, i.e $2 Million dollars in the first week of its run at the Radio City Music Hall. This should debunk the stories the Movie flopped. Additionally, I refute the claim Ms. Ball invested $5 Million into the picture to star in the film. Lucy had a profit participation that is all. One can dial up a www.youtube.com video of Lucy on Donahue where she says it was a Warner Film not one she produced. Lucy got the picture after many were considered because being so famous worldwide it was deemed Lucy could carry the picture in particular foreign markets where musicals do not fare well.

Yes--that's true, Anderson!--the film broke records at Radio City! And I too dislike the persistent myth that Lucy contributed a chunk of her personal fortune in "Mame"--that's hooey.

This thread is pathetic. The movie did well in JUST ONE THEATER. What a joke. The OP needs to take his meds again. MAME bombed everywhere else. It never made back its $12 million production cost. It killed Lucille Ball's movie career, which was never much of a career to begin with.
