LIZA FOR A REMAKE
I hope "Mame" gets remade as a film or a revival on Broadway. Liza would be great
Liza would probably sound worse than Lucy at this point. Truthfully, I don't think we'll be seeing another major MAME on stage or screen for a long time.

I think you are right. MAME simply wouldn't work today, it's not the type of musical todays paying public would want to see and while I will always remain a fan of the film, the 1974 Lucille Ball version really should be considered the end of the road for MAME. It would, in my opinion, be a waste of time and money trying to remake it for todays market. I think the same applies to the terrible, boring and totally ill conceived 'HELLO DOLLY'- which for my money is much, much worse than MAME.....at least MAME (and Lucy) were funny - which is more than can be said about HELLO DOLLY and Barbra Striesand.
