Question re a line

This is one of my favorite movies. I saw it just by chance when it first came out and I have since owned it on VHS and now DVD. One of my favorite guilty pleasures is that I watch it every year when my husband goes on his annual fishing trip. I am in happy tears every single time at the end with the montage and the sappy "Someday we'll feel like we never have been here" song. But here's the question: In the way beginning when they are playing pool with that guy who obviously is higher class thant hey are, what does Avenue J mean?? I've wondered this from the start and at one point thought they were saying Admiral Jay.

In Brooklyn there are a group of streets that are simply named after letters of the alphabet(Avenue A, Avenue B, Avenue C, Etc...). Avenue J is one of those streets. I used to live right off Avenue X.

Avenue J runs through the Midwood section of Brooklyn near Flatbush and at the time was mostly Jewish middle/upper middle class (still is, I think).

Rest assured no gang from Avenue J would be very intimidating - which is why Stanley says metaphorically that he "eats" Avenue J meaning he'd kick anyone's ass from that area.
