Boring?

Was I the only one who found this movie to be really boring? I am interested in nazis and in exploitation movies so it is suprising it took me so long to get around to watching this, but it could barely keep my attention, and my mind would wander to think of other stuff. There was a major lack of energy and enthusiasm in this I find. It was like they did it by numbers; decided ok, we need X torture scenes, add in an escape plot, and shoot the damn thing.

I think maybe it could have been more interesting if they had included speeches involving nazi race theories (as comic relief), and worse/more brutal treatment of the prisoners while not being tortured (I mean, that place was pretty luxurious by concentration camp standards).

Disturbed?? What year is it; 1954? Extreme cinema has been around for a long time. It is human nature to want to see violent and sexual images; it doesn't mean we are "disturbed," it simply means that we have an inherent fascination for violence. Ilsa is no more twisted than "Hostel." In fact the ideas behind "Hostel" are more disgusting, becuase the subject was 'torture for financial profit.' At least Ilsa is based on historical fact, and those events were backed by serious political/religious beliefs. And "Hostel" is a mainstream film that played in shopping malls across the western world. Where have you been for the last 30 years?

It's not very well-paced and resembles more of a collection of vignettes or small episodes than a full story-driven film. Hence the boredom.
