Question....

....to all the anti-censorship types:

Would an exploitation film about a paedophiles' den, full of (fake) scenes of child abuse, murder and mutilation, be acceptable and allowed to go on release?

If not, then why should something like this be available?

Where, if anywhere, should the line be drawn?

reply

Easy answer.

The line should be drawn at depicting underage abuse... physical, mental or sexual.

If the participants are adults, anything goes! The marketplace will decide if the film is successful or not.

reply

That's not what I asked.

I was thinking about child pornography, but where actual children are not used. It could be a cartoon, a digital feature, etc. The content shows the sexual abuse and killing of children, and the target audience is paedophiles.

Should such a film be allowed to go on release?

reply

I think Jimbo answered your point perfectly...

If Adults were not allowed to make "adult" films (with adult actors, writers and directors) then there simply would be no film. "Ilsa" is not art, but it demands the same freedom that Scorcese, Tarantino, Lynch et al have. Why?

Because...Everyone in this movie did so of their free will. All over 21, all paid, all consenting. No one has accused Ilsa of being an illicit Porn film. It isn't. It's a great trash film people enjoy.

I think your saying that the movie advocates Sex and Violence against Women, in a way that if a "Paedophile" film did, the film would be banned. I've got news for you; there are legitimate films with horrific violence against Children. And is "Pretend" sex or violence, any better than the real thing?Well my answer is...RESPONSIBILITY!Watch violence, then take responsibility for your own actions, for God's sake.

You want to know whether fake Paedophile films should be released?, get lost *beep* off and check out the Harry Potter board. Ilsa is an ADULT film for an ADULT audience! Save your worries,my friend.

Well said, sir.

All over 21? Since when is legal age 21? Try 18 buddy.

reply

Their should never be anything taboo as far as art is concerned even something as horrible as child abuse. It happens in our society so why censor? You cant stop the horrors of the world even if you hide said horrors under a rock.

By this logic films like Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Planet Terror are also 'not done'. Sure, some horrible acts are committed in those, but that's just part of the horror/exploitation genre people want to see. The same goes for Ilsa.
