Is this public domain? Who owns the copyright?

It was uploaded on Youtube in full length as full free movie provided by Google but Google took it back down. So does anyone actually own the rights to this film?

The Holy Mountain is definitely NOT in the public domain. It's rights are owned by ABKCO.

Public Domain I believe is death + 50 years. If the rights are not owned by somebody. Technically this movie is owned by ABKCO who bought it 4 years after it was originally released. Which was the company that owned the rights to a bunch of rock bands in the 70s. Allen Klein died in 2009. So maybe in 2059. Mark it on the ole calender.

Domain is only an issue when enforced. If the copyright holders knows that a film isn't worth any more projected profit, they'll take off the reigns and give it free exposure. Google videos is notorious for having temporary uploaded films that had poor initial outings just to boost awareness, only to be pulled after a month or 2.

There are as of something like last August, a literal cavalcade of films uploaded to YouTube in their entirety (YAY!) and almost none of them I've seen are public domain. Mostly just Indy work that doesn't mind the extra hits to get the word out that an obscure film exists. If surrealism is your thing, now are the times you need to be diving headfirst into YouTube.

The public domain I have seen there tends to be Soviet films and a lot of grindhouse. Maybe or maybe not your thing, but I'll assure you there are gems to be had in both.
