An old question, but...

I just finished watching the DVD version of The Great Gatsby and I was left completely confused. I remember seeing the same movie earlier on TV, that version showed the woman getting hit by the car. It was very graphic and slightly disturbing. But the DVD version I just watched didn't have the footage at all. I know there was a post from two years earlier about the same thing but I thought I would bring up the question again. Does anyone know what happened to the lost footage? I cant find information about it anywhere online and its driving me crazy.

I don't know anything about it because I'm actually about to watch this for the first time tonight, but the tv versions sometimes include deleted scenes to make more sales (I suppose).

One example is The Goonies.
In the theatrical and home release, the character Chunk mentions an octopus. The scene with the octopus was a deleted scene included for broadcast on the televised version of the film, not in the theatrical cut.
So that would be my assumption but I'm always interested in further speculation of the backstory behind making the film, so if anyone has the answer I'd like to find out as well.
