Gatsby is a place holder for us

I never thought about Gatsby as a place holder until I saw the new adaptation, which is horrible, by the way. We have a little Gatsby in each of us. We put on our face before leaving the house, we strive to be something better, no matter how small our steps, and we feel shame about certain aspects of our lives.

Just something to think about.

I agree we all have a little bit of Gatsby in us, especially Americans as we strive for the American dream. Also if we had regrets in the past, we try to distance ourselves from them. That having goals and moving forward is the best we should strive for each day.

But comon, the new adaptation wasn't that bad. I didn't like the narration, but still a lot of the performances were very good. It has a higher score than the 1974 version which I will try to watch soon.

I'd say the Mira Sorvino version is more accurate to the book and more entertaining. Watch that one instead. I believe it's on YouTube for free.

Thanks trying to find more time to get my Gatsby fix. Then I'll probably watch both old versions (I like Mira Sorvino too) and find time to read the book lol
