Is this Senator Geary line a blooper?

So when Senator Pat Geary is speaking at the party about the donation Michael had made in the name of his son, he says: "whom I think we should recognize Mike -- Pat -- uh, KAY -- stand up please -- stand up, let the folks see you. ".

The character's name who is speaking is Pat, so did he mistake Diane Keaton's character as Pat before correcting himself and saying Kay? I can't think of any other explanation for this line being spoken like this but I can't find anywhere online that this a blooper so I'm wondering if there's something I'm just missing? Any help appreciated!

It may have indeed been a blooper but given how the rest of the interactions play out with Senator Geary, Coppola may have liked it and left it in because (to me) it gives the impression of a politician "going through the motions". Feigning interest in a public appearance to garner favor or votes from those in attendance when the real agenda will come up a few scenes later. Hopefully that makes sense.

It does make sense, and it's normal to fumble words and names in real life. What I think makes it odd is that he fumbled it for his own character's name which makes it harder to justify as something that would happen in reality and makes it seem like the actor got confused over character names.

I always thought that it was a slip up on his line.

Perhaps it was an unintentional goof but it makes sense and is consistent with his character as it is later revealed that he intentionally mispronounced the name "Corleone"

I didn't take it as a blooper. I just saw it as yet another example of disrespect as in "Michael CorleON". Geary was a pompous jerk, who didn't realize how over his head he truly was. Between the brothel and the Senate hearings, I think Geary crapped his pants worse than the landlord did when he found out who Vito was! lol

Well that still wouldn't explain why he said "Pat" since that was his own character's name.
