This is wha Axel's grandfather says to him poolside when discussing Axel's girlfriend. Yet, this dialogue was blanked out when this movie was run on the Movies! Channel. Wonder why?

Well I've heard the line (a few times). I would imagine that "Movies" has a policy of not using ethnic identification.
Now obviously the elderly man (I think it was King Vidor) was speaking for himself and those that are his offspring ( As well as saying it in private). Why a broadcasting Co. would have a problem with that IDK.

That's disgusting.

Not the remark, but that some stupid pay channel would appoint itself censor -- and surreptitiously.
Smarmy a$$holes.

The point of the dialogue is irony: his grandfather is a moneyed snob who once was the violent street pleb he claims Lilly is suited for, not realizing his grandson IS that guy. He doesn't even know him.

Movies! is a commercial supported TV station.

There's also the fact that Jews believe in staying within the tribe so to speak. I don't look at as predjudice but more of a survival thing. Not a big deal.
