Well, I was in an old turkish house in the western part of old Zabid medina (Yemen) and my guide told me "Passolini shot a part of his 1001 Nights here". The house is now a shop-cum-tourist cafe with a beautiful "mafraj" on the second floor. Next to it is a local derelict cinema - a true local "Fellini" experience.

I saw this film last night for the first time and my over-riding thought about it was that the locations were stunning! I'd love to go and see some of these places!

To be perfectly honest. I think Pasolini is a part of my motivation to go to Yemen. But i had seen the film for year before going there, and i've seen it month after my trip.
Anyway, go to YEMEN, before it's too late. It's a wonderfull country. Pasolini said that Sanaa is Venice on the Sand.
I'm going to Ethiopa in one month, i'm looking foward to it.
But i'm still trying to find the which part where from Ethiopa and from which exact location was it shot....
