I think the '66 Impala was the real work car of this flick?

They worked that 327 in it to death.Jumping everything, the long burnouts, fast braking stunts etc.I wondered how many of those cars survived.Maybe none.

According to the trivia, they had six Dodge Polaras (440) and none survived. Don't know about the first getaway car, though.

Also, wasn't it a 68 Chevy? I thought the 327 was discontinued after 1967.

It truly was a '66 Impala with the 327.They made the mistake of saying it was a '68 in the movie. The Charger grabbed all the glory, but to me the Impala was the star.Great real stunts, with all the cars though!Chevy offered the 327 motor in most of their(Caprice/Impala,Camaro,Chevelle's)cars up to '69.

I had a '66 Impala in the mid 70's that had a 454 Rat Motor in it (not original) but was a sleeper like the car in this movie, it was even the same color, (two door, not four door) but damn it was fast.

Whenever I watch this movie I weep that I didn't hold onto that car.
