Nice work, Mr! Great shots -- glad you found all the locations! What is funny is, they haven't changed all that much! LOL!
How is the trip?
the supermarket is right in sonora I used to live near there and its still there its right off 108 and still looks the same. ya take 108 up to sonora and use the old way not the new cuttoff.
shareMr. Location, great shots! on this and vanishing point.
half the time that i watch some of the movies from the west, i always wonder where they are shot.
I see that you have Duel as well. great work.
There are some scenes from early "la bamba" that look like hollister to me.
or some where from southern santa clara valley.
Thank you for your comments. I don't plan to be out west for a few years (I live in England) but I'll note your La Bamba ideas.
shareha, that's great.
you've seen more of the west than 99 percent of the yanks...
okay, then' i'll request
the good, the bad, and the ugly... or
Buono, il brutto, il cattivo, Il
would love to see what that graveyard looks like at the end, and that valley, where he rides away, and then stops to shot tuco's rope.
i see that you have some of the spaghetti westerns on you site.
i guess that's mono lake, right? where the town of lago is. looks like the south eastern shore maybe.
Glad you're still enjoying the pictures. Thank you. I've put up some more Good, Bad and Ugly pictures on my site below for you: Look at the last section titled "Requests". Don't forget to look at the descriptions for each photo there (regarding Mono Lake too).

yeah, great photo's. those extra Good, Bad, and Ugly photo's are great.
Tuco's shovel!!!! just the thought that it could be is really something...
curious. i know you must do a lot of advance research, to get a general idea of where to go to photograph your albums.
how much is just on the road detective work, to find certain spots? do you do a lot of asking the local folks, ecetera?
movies like thelma and louise are probably pretty well documented as to where they were shot.
but movies like crazy larry, duel, vanishing point?
i would guess a bit more difficult...
The G.B.U. cemetery is about two miles south of Contreras on the dirt track that goes to Santo Domingo de Silos (a town well worth visiting in itself).
About Research: Sometimes it takes MONTHS to find these places. You start with Imdb (but not all location entries are accurate there). Then you look in the Worldwide Guide To Movie Locations book (Tony Reeves). You look at the end credits to the film for clues there. You scour the films for signpost clues and shop names. You do a Google on keywords. You join Yahoo Groups for specific film fansites. For Vanishing Point there was a site online (now closed) which indicated some of the locations. And ..... lastly ..... you just GO there and work out where they might have filmed scenes within an area you know was used - you drive around for hours looking at the line of hills etc. PHEW! The two places I never found which I really wanted to were: 1) D.M.C.L - the watchtower. 2) Breakdown - the small town where Jeff goes to the bank to get the money (the close-upshots were done in Victorville, but the long shots were done somewhere else).
Do you want to meet me in North Carolina and Delaware next September for The Fugitive, Hannibal and Dead Poets Society?

My hometown is Sonora, and I saw this film there when it was first released. Nice to see the old place.
