Had anybody actually seen 'Thunder Road'?

When Larry makes reference to this movie, I always wanted to see it.
Finally saw it on cable.
It was very painful to watch and I never did finish it! I can understand, given the timeframe, why Larry would idolize the movie...
But, WOW, it was really awful!

You thought Thunder Road was awful? Why? Because it was in black and white?

Just curious because many like it. Yeah, it's not high art, but still a popular film.
