The Three Chargers

Found a pretty good shot of the three Chargers used in the filming:

The top Charger is a '69 non-R/T car (note the standard "Charger Arrow" in the grille).

The middle Charger is clearly a '68 R/T (note the '68 grille - whoops!)

The bottom Charger is the '69 R/T (note the "T" in the "R/T" emblem in the busted grille above the driver's turn signal)

Since the '69 R/T was the "damage" car, along with the '68 (with the '69 tail panel filler), it's possible that the top Charger is the car that eventually survived.

Thanks avenger, good observations, I think these things are very interesting.

The 69 R/T survived, was purchased by someone on the "inside" of the production company/studio,had it totally restored (new nose, repaired back fender, repaint complete with stripe) and his wife/girlfriend proceeded to run it into the guardrails totalling it out.
What I would like to know is where the 68 went....it basically wasnt too badly damaged to the point of destruction.

It was the 1969 base car that met doom with the train.Note the missing Charger roof panel emblem on the left side at the final scene. The 69 R/T running the groves had both Charger emblems, the 1968 had none.
