3 hours version

I saw 10 years ago a 3 hours version of the film in Spain.

Where is it?

Is there any DVD with this version?

WOAH! A 3 hour version?! I never knew one existed. I'd love to get that. Dersu Uzala is an almost perfect movie...with so little dialogue telling such a sweeping story of discovery, but mostly, friendship. I love the scenes when the Kapitan re-unites with Dersu in the middle of nowhere! The scene on the frozen lake, in which Dersu builds a straw hut and saves the Kapitan is magnificent. Also, the way Russian is spoken in this is SO beautiful! What a film!

There was a version of "Dersu Uzala" for Soviet television, and another version is the one for motion pictures, which is called the "U.S. Version".

There is a 3 dvd box set from South Korea, which contains both versions & extras. The company which released this is called Spectrum DVD. It was put out with the assistance of the Russian Cinema Council.

Although it is a Code 3 DVD, it can be easily viewed on one's computer, be it mac or pc.
