Looks like Code Red is still working on a DVD release of Messiah of Evil.

This indeed is very cool. First Sole Survivor, now this- my two favorite obscure movies.

I have to admit though, that song, at least for me, was part of the charm of this movie.

With the original poster art, no less!

Holy *beep*

This is FANTASTIC NEWS!!!

"My stepfather tried to rape me ... and he's a werewolf."

Hell yeah! I'll buy two of 'em!

I know this is years later, but in reference to the Code Red dvd release mentioned here, is that actually a decent clear copy of this film?
I am getting tired of the two versions I have that are different levels of blurry. Like the EP of a vhs or worse. One of them came in one of those 50 movie packs so it was understandable in that case. Out of all the poor quality dvds I have, Messiah of Evil is one of the top 10 or so that I'd like to have a better copy of.

The Code Red DVD looks good, the Blu-ray is even better. Both are in the original aspect ratio and contain extras. Definitely many steps up from the bargain full-screen versions you're referring to.

Unfortunately though, the Code Red dvd of Messiah is out of print and used copies of it are selling on Amazon starting at $30. I won't pay that much just to get a copy of a single film. I hope someone else re-releases the restored version soon.

I don't read tweets. I don't write tweets. And I don't like people who do.

I didn't want to pay that much either so I got a cheap, public domain copy of the film. The film itself is so good that I didn't even mind the DVD was a bit low quality picture-wise. I will be sure to watch it again many more times.
