My mum and grandpa are both extras in this film!!! My pa is the old man pumping petrol at the beginning of the film and my mum is in the big scene at the end bashing the car shes wearing a brown fur coat!!!

This was filmed in Sofala, New South Wales where my family lived back in the day! Sirens (Hugh Grant and Elle Macpherson) was filmed there too!

Have just watched it for the first time. Curiouser and curiouser! Interesting to see some good Aussie actors in their young days. John Meillon was one of the best. It must have been a big event in Sofala at the time.

I think it is so cool that your family were in the movie. It must have been so exciting for a small town to have the movie crew there. A few years ago, a number of scenes from "A Good Shepard" (2006) with Angelina Jolie and Matt Damon, were filmed in my home town in Long Island, New York (USA). It was such an amazing experience for us to be able to see the filming of a movie first hand. We weren't lucky enough to have people from the community featured in the movie, like you were. It must be so much fun for you to watch this movie and be able to pick out people who you know personally. Until I read your post, I had no idea that local people were used in the production. I am really glad you let us all know that. It makes the movie even more fun to watch! I'm going to keep a look out for your petrol pumping papa!

Thanks for interesting post epck01. I think it's great for a film like this, set in a remote rural community, to feature the actual local people who live there in real life. This is one of my favorite films, and I'm glad it has given other people pleasure too, and is still remembered affectionately by 'the people of Sofala and Wattle Flat' who helped to make it, (and were even credited thus.)
