I have a complete widescreen copy on tape and was thinking of getting the dvd, but I was told by a friend not to as the dvd is missing the Polanski scene..he said it even lists Polanski in the credits on the dvd cover but the scene is not on the disc..anyone have any info on this?..is there a complete dvd version worth getting?
Roman Polanski is definitely in the DVD versions of the film. He is one of the peasants in the second tavern scene. I suggest you get the new DVD released by Image Entertainment. It's exactly like the Criterion edition, but it's half the price.
when i first saw this movie it contained a scene right after the tavern in which a girl gets run over by a carriage. anton, dracula's servant, pretends to faint and drops to the ground with a piece a bread, soaks the blood with it and takes it to his master. this scene is missing from every vhs and dvd version i have watched. in those the end of the tavern scene in which the accident is announced ends right there and jumps to the hotel room where dracula receives his bloody loaf. why is this? has anyone else noticed this?
are you sure you're not imagining this?..the servant describes this incident in pretty good detail as dracula sucks on his bloody loaf , so there really wasnt any need to also have seen it first (redundant)...maybe the servant's description was so vivid you remembered it as if you'd seen it
