I imagine people are going to laugh at us 40 years from now, esp. that stupid "grunge" look, or worse yet, ghetto wear (ewww)...times change!

In the 70's flares (bellbottoms on steroids) were the thing to laugh at, not just for the look but for the pure unfunctionality of it (some people would trip over their flares!)

Now the thing to laugh at is wearing pants with the crotch down to the knees. They took the unfunctionality and stupid look to a way bigger level. I suppose Dick Van Dyke pioneered that look in Mary Poppins when he dances with the penguins.

Exactly. People who watch and insult a movie for its culture are more a fan of the culture than they admit to. Otherwise, they wouldn't be so obsessed with it. Pretty obvious.

I agree. "Towering Inferno" and "Poseidon Adventure" are two 70s films that stand out for their costuming to me. Like a time capsule.

Everything about the seventies was crap, except for those who find it nostalgic. That's why the styles, clothes, music, and hair didn't make it out of the decade. You can spot a seventies movie in a second for that reason. Don't mean to offend the seventies generation, just my opinion.

You could say the same of every decade. The 80's style was crap because it didn't make it out of the decade. The sixties clothes were crap for the same reason, or the 50's and on and on. Just because you don't personally care for it that doesn't mean it's crap.
