If they did a remake...

If they ever did a remake of his movie, I swear Katherine Heigel should play 'Alice' mainly because she looks like Ellen Burstyn did back in 1974. (Or at least Ellen & Kathryn should play mother & daughter in A film, because of the resemblance..lol. )

As far as the rest of the characters...Vic Tayback was so 'Mel Sharples' (mainly because played he role in both the film AND the TV sitcom) he's nearly irreplacable! So IDK who I'd cast? (Maybe Vince Vaughn? IDK? probably a dumb choice. )

First rule of remakes: NEVER MESS WITH PERFECTION !!! I can only assume that you're not much out of high school.

I've loved this film so much over the years that I didn't realize until recent years how good Ellen Burstyn looked back then. Kathryn Heigl is nice looking enough, but I'll take a 42 year old Ellen Burstyn over her any day.

I consider the TV series "Alice" a remake, in a way. It ran for nine seasons, they were doing *something* right.

Well, I'd probably prefer to use the word ' sequel '. In any case, it was a cute show, but I'm quite sure that it wouldn't hold up for me now. However, I watch A.D.L.H.A. several times a year and I [ never ] get tired of it.

I've watched several episodes of the show on Youtube recently. It's dated but still entertaining.

We have a couple of retro stations in the Bay Area and I really like watching a lot of the shows from the fifties and sixties. I would guess that I'm a bit older than you, though.

NO REMAKE NEEDED ...... EVER !!! Watch the original and be happy with it.
