Pure Scorsese

So many of the director's trademarks in this film. Those explosive moments of domestic violence that punctuate Raging Bull, Goodfellas, Casino, etc. are here, as are the sweeping tracking shots and zooms that have become his stock-in-trade. Not to mention the use of music. Classic, under-rated, Scorsese.

It was fascinating to rewatch this after having seen every one of the films Scorsese did after it.

It really is fascinating to watch. I had grown up on the show "Alice" as a child. Later, in my teen years in the 80s, I became a huge Scorsese fan.

When I discovered that the TV series "Alice" had been based on a Scorsese movie, I couldn't believe it. Then I watched the movie and was blown away. It's fascinating to see the sudden explosions of rage and violence in this movie, as in other Scorsese movies, in a story that would later become such a squeaky clean sitcom. lol
